QLD MUSCLE CAR SHOOTOUT

The Muscle Car Shootout is a celebration of a bygone era, when performance was king and fuel economy wasn’t even a consideration.  These cars were loud and proud and built with one purpose in mind… to go fast – and look good at the same time.  And although many years have past since these cars were new, they are still able to make pulses race and fill grown men’s hearts with desire!!!  2005 marks the 5th running of this fun and unique event and is not to be missed by the true muscle car enthusiast.  The following links will take you to photos of the last two events, whilst further down the page you will find the "flyer" for this year's event... which is being held for the first time at the Morgan Park Raceway, in Warwick, Queensland.  For those inter-staters who think they are pretty good... here is your chance to prove it!!!  Let the games begin!!!

Muscle Car ShootOut

RACE DAY, ROUND 1

Morgan Park Raceway, WARWICK

Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May, 2005

Paul McCamley is again organising the best value Muscle Car only race day in Australia.

If you want to keep your 1960-1976 Australian or American muscle car wrapped in cotton wool under a blanket in your family room, that’s fine. But if you want to enjoy it the way it was designed to be used, drive it around the track as fast or as slow as you want under controlled conditions. Choose your own track partners – fellow club members, all Mustangs, all Monaros, all Corvettes, all Falcon GTs, all Chargers, or get that FORD/HOLDEN grudge race you’ve always talked about happening.

Join the 1st timers, the Hot Shots, or somewhere in between.  You choose.

Big separation rolling starts from pit lane, small grid numbers, no Armco, no oncoming traffic, no Volvo drivers, no speed cameras, no Mr policeman jumping out from behind a bush to cut your licence up as you power thru 100 mph, no confiscation laws, no court appearances on Monday.

Just you and the tacho redline! The perfect opportunity to blow the cobwebs out safely *

* SPEED LIMIT 300kph

Trophies will be awarded for the fastest Mustang, Monaro, Falcon GT, Charger, GM, Ford, Cobra, GT-40,

Frequently Asked Questions;

Q: “Hey Dad, are we there yet?”

A: It’s a long way on your skateboard, but by car it’s only one hour past the go kart track at Willowbank. Put another way, if you

     leave at the same time you leave for work, you’ll be there by 9-00am.

Q: “Hey Dad, will you be scared?”

A:  Motor racing is dangerous. Morgan Park International raceway is a CAMS safety accredited track. It is a ‘drivers’ track,

     2.2 klms of twisting, hilly thrills, high speed straights.  Adrenalin and eyes like fried eggs.

Q: “Hey Dad, will it be cold?”

A: Warwick in May. No colder than Antartica. Thermal underwear, standard Russian Army blizzard jacket with fur lined hood

     should be fine.  Bring some snow goggles, just in case.

Q: “Hey Dad, will there be an Air Guitar contest?”

A: Yes, $500 cash prize for the best under 16 year old air guitarist to a 1960-1976 tune.

Q: “Hey Dad, can uncle Kevin race his Porsche?”

A: Muscle cars is muscle cars. Sports cars is sports cars. No Euro or Jap. Cobras & GT40s are invited V8 cousins.

Q: “Hey Dad, can you have your own race number?”

A: Pre entry can nominate own race number. Otherwise, pot luck.

Q: “Hey Dad, can we camp overnight?”

A: Very limited camping will be available, don’t just turn up in the pop top. Write for details.

Q: “Hey Dad, will you be famous?”

A:  Muscle Car ShootOut will be in Australian Muscle Car & Street Machine magazines, & beamed live to the world via webcam.
